He’s searching for a story but finds so much more.
Brad Torrence is next on the chopping block at the newspaper where he works. Hungry for any source he can find, he runs across an ad in the classifieds: For Sale: Nursery Items, Never Used. It’s the lead he’s been looking for. Thinking a piece about the loss of a child will give him the edge he needs to keep his job, Brad follows up. He doesn’t expect a single man to answer.
Rather than being offended, Cory Wolfe finds sharing the story of his grief and pain liberating. He’s even surprised by the spark that strikes, and one story leads to another.
Brad digs into his stories and Cory’s life, eager to know everything about the man who’s caught his attention. But when a lead points him to the hospital where Cory works, he unearths a mystery that might have been safer left buried. Brad’s search for a story could prove deadly….
Review:
Brad Torrence is about to be fired from his job at the “Mechanicsburg Crier” If he can’t find an excellent story to give his boss. When he takes a look in the classified ads he comes across a listing for baby items. Crib, Car Seat, Stroller, you name it, it’s there. He thinks there might be a story, he just needs to get up the courage to make the phone call and see for himself.
Cory Wolfe was about to become a father. His best friend Eileen became pregnant but didn’t feel she was the mother type and planned to put her baby up for adoption. Cory wants a baby, he wants to be a father and ask if he can adopt the baby for himself. It’s the best of both worlds for Eileen. She can still see her child grow but Cory can raise him. Cory has never been more excited in his whole life, but then things take a turn for the worst and Cory is left heartbroken and alone.
*Sniff* Nothing like making me cry right at the beginning of a story.
Cory knows it’s time to move on and put the past behind him but his grief is still so strong. Here’s where Brad enters his life and starts to change everything for him. After the article is out Cory and Brad start dating, their relationship grows fairly quick but there’s still many things getting in their way.
Brad is working another story, a very big story. One that has a lot of people scared. Cory has an offer for another job, which will require him to move away. Neither one of them are sure what the future will hold.
When Brad finally gets his story he is on cloud nine. He just got the scoop of all scoops and goes out to celebrate. On his way home from a celebratory dinner tragedy strikes and Brad ends up in hospital.
During those long hours of waiting for Brad to regain consciousness, Cory realizes just how much he loves him. When Brad finally wakes he lets a hospital rumor get to him and he starts to push Cory away, thinking he is doing the best thing for both of them but Cory is not going to let that happen.
I was very excited over the epilogue. I’m sure with the topic of the story some will see the ending coming a mile away but for this sweet story it was the perfect ending.
I know I sound like a broken record when I repeatedly say that Andrew Grey cannot write a horrible book. His writing style is fantastic and his plots are always fascinating. I am literally first in line to grab up his books and In Search of a Story was just another way to show everyone how talented his writing really is.
Go.. Read.. Enjoy..
