Special Needs 2 is a story with a whole range of crazy characters, so it was only appropriate that when Christmas time arrived in the book, it would be truly special. With Ryan’s new obsession with mermen in full swing, he decided to decorate his sex hotel, “The Lust Pit”, in a nautical theme……

rsz_merikan3“Ryan hung the last ornament on the Christmas tree they put in the lounge and wheeled back to see his work in full glory. They’d decided with Liam, that they would have nautical themed Christmas decorations. The last element, a tree topper in the shape of a starfish, would have to wait for Liam’s return with his family, as Ryan couldn’t reach so far up in his wheelchair. Liam even got Ryan tiny bells when they were leaving the hospital and attached them to his braces, saying it would add some Christmas spirit.

“That’s nice.”

rsz_merikan1Ryan turned his head to see Rufio, who kept walking in on him all day.

“We ordered these merman ornaments online.” He grinned at the boy. “One is an underwater hairdresser.” Ryan pointed at a merman with a glittery fin.”

Because really, what is Christmas without a gay merman hairdresser tree ornament?

“There were fake waves hanging from the ceiling, along with paper starfish and jellyfish. And over the fireplace, Ryan’s dildo octopus was embracing the shark with a silly grin. No one needed to know what was behind that hug.”

Ryan’s Christmas madness doesn’t stop at decorations though. He orchestrates a nautical dress code as well. rsz_merikan2That includes Christmas sweaters with things like an octopus wearing a Santa hat and a reindeer on a boat.

And you know it’s Christmas in “The Lust Pit” when Liam gets a set of bacon lube and bacon print condoms.

Last but not least, their theme inspired the color scheme in our own house this year (yes, we live together ;)) Behold, our nautical colored tree!

K.A. Merikan is a joint project of Kat and Agnes Merikan who jokingly claim to share one mind. They finish each other’s sentences and simultaneously come up with the same ideas.

In 2006 a mutual friend invited them over to a party and after a whole night of chatting and watching movies, the idea of writing a novel together came1211807232_thumb up. It marked the beginning of both a professional collaboration and lasting friendship of Kat and Agnes.

The beginning was a serialized on-line novel (in Polish), but after that more and more ideas kept coming and in a few years of writing, the project was taken to a new level – to writing in English and self-publishing.

Kat and Agnes enjoy writing various kinds of stories, from light-hearted romance to thrillers. They love creating characters that are not easy to classify as good or evil, and firmly believe that even some villains deserve their happy endings.

Kat Merikan is a freelance illustrator and fashion enthusiast whose favorite things include chili chips, stiletto shoes and cats.

Agnes Merikan aspires to become a sexologist. She loves chocolate, dogs and all things kitsch.

Christmas-Bauble-psd94456It is easiest to find them in galleries, good restaurants and historical sites, always with a computer or notebook, because for Kat and Agnes, every day is writing day. Future plans include lots of travel and a villa on the coast of Italy or a flat in Paris where they could retire after yet another crazy venture, only to write more hot m/m romance.

K.A. Merikan firmly believes that nothing brightens up the day like an energizing cocktail of handsome men, love, sex and some great story, all topped with a lot of sweet and sour.

— Caretaking. Like a boss. —

So, Ryan isn’t disabled. Okay, he is, but he’s only got a foot missing, that’s hardly a reason to pretend he’s paraplegic and ride around in a wheelchair! Now Liam has to deal with being lied to since the moment they met, and he is not a happy camper. He doesn’t understand why sweet, innocent Ryan would do such a thing. What if there are other things his boyfriend lied about? Or ex-boyfriend for that matter.

Ryan is in a state of complete panic at the sole thought of losing Liam, his first proper boyfriend ever. But the show must go on and after the fire in his hotel, Ryan can’t only focus on his love life. He’s a serious businessman after all. Marketing, networking and promoting will be his new love life. Who needs a boyfriend anyway, when in the end, every guy is either a devotee, or freaks out about his transability? Yet… maybe if Liam stayed around the hotel, they could at least make up and become friends.

There is one more option to consider – walking. If Ryan started walking, would Liam want to be with him again? But how far can he bend to Liam’s wishes before he breaks?
