If you are familiar with the Market Garden series, you will remember Tristan, Jared and Rolex from the first two books – Quid Pro Quo, Market Garden #1 and Take It Off, Market Garden #2.
Tristan and Jared both work at Market Garden as high paid rentboys. In Quid Pro Quo, Jared has been interested in Tristan for months. When a john walks into the Garden and requests both their services, Jared is completely onboard. Tristan is always one who is in control and between him and the john they dubbed Rolex, Jared is pushed to his limits. In Take It Off, Rolex again requests their services, but this time Jared is determined to pay Tristan back for last time – and it is a very sexy payback. After this episode, they start seeing one another outside of work. They are enjoying one another and making a lot of money together.
Then something shifts. Tristan seems unhappy with their arrangement and Jared is not sure what is going on. They get along great when they are together but Tristan is moody and prone to giving him the silent treatment, not at all like the cocky, confident man he knows when working at the Garden or the sweet gentle one he has come to know in their time spent together outside of work. Just when Jared is going to confront him, Rolex walks in wanting to hire them again, but with a twist; he wants to have sex with Jared and have Tristan watch.
Payoff is another hot, sexy installment in the Tristan-Jared-Rolex storyline. I have always liked Rolex. He actually seems to care about Jared and Tristan and enjoys the games they play, especially the play for control between him and Tristan. In this story, we get some insight into Jared and Tristan’s relationship as well as getting a better picture of Rolex, not just as a john but a person and I liked him even more. It was fun seeing Jared take a bit of the control away from both of them too. There is a nice resolution to the relationship problems and still plenty of the steamy sex I have come to expect from these three. I thought this was a nice transition away from Tristan and Jared’s storyline while leaving it open for characters to be revisited.
