B L U R B :
When Nick O’Flaherty arrives at the scene of a double homicide to find he has a witness to the crime, he thinks it’s his lucky day. But when he realizes his witness is suffering from amnesia and can’t even remember his own name, Nick wishes he’d gone with his gut and put in for vacation time.
Then Nick’s boyfriend and former Recon teammate, Kelly Abbott, joins him in Boston, and Nick finds his hands a little too full as the case and his personal life collide. The witness he’s dubbed “JD” is being tailed by Julian Cross, a retired CIA hitman. To complicate matters further, JD forms an attachment to Nick that Nick struggles not to respond to as they search for the key to JD’s identity.
Trying to determine whether JD is friend or foe as they investigate the crime puts them on the trail of a much older mystery. When multiple attempts are made on their lives, Nick is forced to turn to old enemies and new allies to solve a centuries-old crime before he and Kelly get added to the history books.

It’s finally here, and so worth the wait. I don’t know exactly what I was expecting when I began this book. I think because Shock & Awe was all romance and hot sex, that I assumed this book would be just like that, but you know what they say about people who assume…
This book however was packed full of mystery and action, sprinkled with suspense and a nice side of Nick and Kelly romance. We even get a little bit of that Nick and the mob backstory we’ve all been dying to know.
Nick has just been released from desk duty and already he’s got a dead body, a completely trashed bookstore, one guy in the hospital with amnesia, and his boyfriend Kelly is about to fly in to spend a few weeks with him. Could things get any more crazy? Sure they can because Nick’s pretty sure he has just seen Julian Cross!
If you’ve been following Abi on Tumblr, then you already know that Nick and Kelly were never supposed to be an item. Nick was originally going to have his own book and his love was supposed to be a man named JD who has amnesia. Well, that’s not going to happen and I am OK with that! But, JD still makes an appearance and that’s right here in Cross & Crown. Now, Nick is unsure if this guy is a good guy or a bad guy. Since JD cannot remember anything, he’s unsure himself. He doesn’t know if he’s a thief or a murderer, and Nick has promised to help him any way he can. So, between Nick, Kelly, JD and Nick’s partner they set out to find the truth about what happened at that bookstore and why JD was there in the first place. Now, lets not forget about Julian Cross because he’s on a mission too. But, I wont tell you if he’s on the good side or bad. You’ll have to see for yourself. 😛
Along the way these men come across a big treasure hunt in progress and find themselves right smack dab in the middle of it all. It’s a race against time to see who can find the clues and answers first with so many players in the game and some willing to kill to get there before anyone else.
The end of the story to me was kind of like a goodbye to Nick and Kelly’s old lives and a hello to something much more fun and adventurous. I really cannot wait to see where the next book takes them.
Abigail Roux really knows how to write a story that will keep you turning the pages. You know that when you pick up a book written by her that you’re never going to be bored. You’re never going to set that book down and not pick it up again. It’s just a given with her work.
So, to sum it up, we’ve got: Murder, kidnapping, robbery, sex, and of course, no Abi book would be complete if someone didn’t get shot. 🙂
